Daniel Chaput, Director General, Veterinary Drug Directorate, Health Canada

Daniel Chaput is Director General of the Veterinary Drugs Directorate at Health Canada.  He has significant and diversified experience in leading science-based regulatory organizations.  Prior to joining the Veterinary Drugs Directorate in April 2009, he was the Associate Director General of the Food Directorate between 2006 and January 2009 and was Acting DG in the same Directorate until April 2009.  Daniel began his public service career as a chemist with Environment Canada and moved to more senior positions with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and then with the Pest Management Regulatory Agency of Health Canada where he was the Director of the Compliance and Regional Operations Division. Before joining the Health Products and Food Branch, he was the Director General, Directorate of Operational Strategies with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
