Dr. Kathy L. Gross, Associate Director of Nutrition Technology Research, Hill's Pet Nutrition Center
Dr. Gross received her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University, M.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and her Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from Kansas State University. Dr. Gross joined Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc. in 1990 after working as a Research Associate for the US Department of Agriculture, Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University. She is currently Associate Director of Nutrition Technology Research at Hill's Pet Nutrition Center with oversight of canine and feline nutritional research programs in Kidney Health, Urinary Tract Health, Gastrointestinal Health, and Oral Health.
Dr. Gross' major interests are gastrointestinal tract nutrient metabolism, amino acid, fiber and carbohydrate metabolism, and interactions of nutrition and chronic disease. She has authored or co-authored over 50 research publications and has been awarded four patents. She is an adjunct professor at Kansas State University. Dr. Gross is a member of the American Registry of Profession Animal Scientists and a Diplomate of the American College of Animal Nutrition.
Kathy is married to Dr. Rick Tanner, a veterinarian (Meriden Animal Hospital). They have three children, daughter Kara (age 13), son Weston (age 10) and daughter Kaycee (age 6) and live in Shawnee County, Kansas. They have a small farm and raise registered Red Angus cattle and have many pets, horses, goats, and chickens. She enjoys scrapbooking, quilting, horseback riding and activities with her children.
