Jean Szkotnicki, President, Canadian Animal Health Institute
Jean Szkotnicki is President of the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), a trade association representing companies that develop and manufacture pharmaceuticals, biologicals, feed additives and pesticides for use on animals.
She has worked for the Institute since 1991. In her capacity as President, Jean works with CAHI members to develop Institute policy and strategic directions. Liaison and communication activities with regulatory authorities, producer groups, veterinary associations, research institutions and the media are also important in her role. Presently, CAHI has 18 full members (those with products licenced in Canada) and 40 associate members (allied industries).
When Jean joined the CAHI she brought with her a great deal of experience relative to the livestock industry. She was assistant manager of the Ontario Cattlemen's Association for just under ten years.
Jean has both BSc (Agr) and MSc degrees from the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario. The focus of her studies was animal science with postgraduate emphasis in meat science.
In 1997, she was the Inaugural Recipient of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association Industry Award and in1998, she received the Ontario Farm Animal Council Recognition Award.

- Chair of the Ontario Equine Centre Board of Directors
- Member of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Coalition
- Past Chair of the George Morris Centre, a Canadian agricultural think tank
- Member of the Ontario Animal Research and Services Committee, which reviews animal related research priorities
- Member of the Advisory Board, Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare at University of Guelph
