As the commercial arm of the Moredun Group of companies, Moredun Scientific provides world-class expertise to the global animal health and biopharmaceutical industries. We focus on the development and validation of experimental models of infectious disease in livestock for use in the evaluation of preventive and therapeutic treatments. Also, more recently, the company offers a range of biosafety tests for application in the development and manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. In providing these services Moredun Scientific operates in accordance with appropriate quality standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Clinical Practice (VICH-GCP). Our customers include most of the leading global animal health companies and increasingly, both the emerging and large biopharmaceutical companies.

In conjunction with other initiatives from the Group, such as Innocul8, Moredun Scientific is a key channel in the exploitation of the Moredun Research Institute’s intellectual property and knowhow. Areas of interest and activity include:

  • Development of new experimental disease models in cattle, sheep, swine and small laboratory animals.
  • Development and validation of diagnostic tests for in-house use and kits for sale.
  • Adventitious agent testing both in vitro and in vivo.
  • First route for evaluation and/or exploitation of intellectual property generated at the Moredun Research Institute.
