Orbis provides animal health companies with controlled release technology for differentiated drugs and foods. The technology applies to any material in a scalable process, making the technology applicable to many animal products where other precision-control alternatives are economically infeasible.
Precision Particle Fabrication (PPF) technology produces uniform microparticles or microcapsules with a narrow size distribution and precise control over morphology. The flexibility allows for precise production of nearly any particle material, size, and desired characteristic in a scalable and flexible, single-step process. Controlled release provides continuous delivery of pharmaceuticals, nutrients, or chemicals for prolonged durations following a single administration or application. Controlled release can reduce administration frequency, increase animal comfort, lower overall dosage, reduce side effects, and increase safety. PPF provides a simple, controlled release method that provides enhanced control of drug and nutrient delivery rates. Benefits for drugs include controlled release profiles, targeted delivery, and converting multi-dose into single administrations. Food benefits include improving quality and flavor modifications. The technology has issued patents and is proven with ten years’ experience. Orbis has commercialized the technology since 2008, is currently working with client partners to prove the technology to specific product applications, and is developing extended pain relief for companion animals.
